Read Time:43 Second
I stare at the mirror in front of me.
Thoughts cutting deep: a body stained by imperfections,
society’s demand to be perfect outlined in my mind
All because I am a woman.
Too many tears and “what ifs”,
Broken hearts and empty promises
What would have happened if I had not said “no”?
All because I am a woman.
Mascara running down my eyes,
Voices echo: “Pathetic,” they say,
as I push my dreams away,
All because I am a woman.
But the skirt reached my thighs,
yet it was still perceived as an invitation
an unspoken agreement to steal and invade,
All because I am a woman.
My lips were crimson, so was my blood
The feminine rage burning through my veins
Sometimes, everything is too much and all is never enough
Just because I am a woman.
